05/07/10 Weekend Gig Report– Open Mic Fridays at Cork & Olive Lake Mary

Another killer night, pairing Open Mic Friday with Paws & Wine. As usual, we had a few new musicians performing as well as some checking us out.

First timers Lynsdley and Marty started us off with a very cool mix of material. They were followed by Susie Cool who is one of my favorites to listen to, her style is entertaining and relaxing, all at the same time. John Cunningham treated us to his mix of songs and humor, entertainingly delivered, as always. If you didn’t laugh, you weren’t listening!

Peter and Mark were next with a sweet mix of Jazz, Rock and Blues. Like a fine pairing of wine and food, these two mix very well together. Brothers John & Steve Martino were up next with a solid set of originals. They have a style that I’ll describe as a solid, very well balanced performance and easy to listen to.

Mark and I jammed on some Blues and my originals to close out the evening. This was our first time playing together and I can see why Peter enjoys playing with Mark.

David and Katie, with THAT! Deli, had some awesome soup for us to “sample”. I think I had about 20 samples and I’m having lunch there today. You have got to check this place out. David’s dad, Roy built his career catering to major artists at their concerts. Now we can all eat like the stars without leaving Lake Mary. They are located in the shopping center at southeast corner of Lake Mary Blvd and Rinehart Rd. Check them out at www.ThatDeliFL.com.

Last, but not least, thanks to Antoney, Stephanie and Amy for being the best possible hosts, at Cork & Olive, and making my job so incredibly easy!

Watch for a short video with the staff, musicians and listeners. It should be posted during this next week. In the meantime, enjoy the slideshow below.

Taking you back to a simpler time…. with music,

Steve
