Weekend Gig Report – 04/03 – 04/04/10 Penachos Mexican Grill

Happy Easter, everyone! Saturday was a little quiet, what with Easter weekend and all, but we still had a great time. I think the Booth People about matched the folks in the Dining Room and we did have several people sitting outside since we’re having such nice weather again. Plenty of song requests and banter, along with one couple celebrating their 22nd anniversary, made it another fun evening at Penachos.

Shiloh and our new server, Ashley, did a terrific job keeping everyone happy at the tables, while Chef Nora and Sous Chef Isabel kept that wonderful food coming out hot and fresh.

You’ll notice a few new things the next time you come in. The first will be the new décor with fresh paint and art work on the walls. We’ve got new furniture, table cloths, etc. coming as well as a new menu AND we’re transitioning to the family name, De La Vega Restorante Y Galeria. Our open house will be on Thursday, April 22nd and details can be found on our Face Book page.

Another great Open Mic Sunday. Started picking up around 5 when Clay and Stacey showed up. Then Ron, Cathy and Sarah arrived and a little later Nestor and Theresa came in.

This was Clay’s first time with us and he delivered a great set, including a medley of Allman Brothers tunes. Clay was nice enough to ask me to do a few songs with him and jama bit. Next we all sang Happy Birthday to Ron, who was joined by his lovely wife, Cathy and daughter Sarah. Nestor came up and did a very nice set which fit well with it being Easter Sunday. Next up was the birthday boy himself, Ron. He knocked out some of those ‘70s that I grew up on before Clay and I jammed with him for awhile on several songs. We even did one where Clay and Ron Jammed on some slow Blues and I made up the lyrics and then Sarah came up and sang a few songs, oo.

We had a pretty steady flow of diners from around 5 until I left at 8:30. I’m telling you, folks, it just keeps getting better each week. If you haven’t made the trip, you’ve been missing out on some great food, fun and entertainment!
