What a cool weekend in Deland at Penachos. It was a little quieter than usual with Bike Week still going on in Daytona Beach, but man, we had pure quality!
Saturday night I was fighting a cold and planned on doing shorter sets, but I was having so much fun with the crowd that I just kept going. We had several first-timers enjoy the Penachos experience, many brought by friends. Big Dog brought some friends in and they promised they’ll be back. We also had a family down from the panhandle for a state gymnastics competition. Their son competes in every event and his coach was along with them. They have quite a lot to be proud of in this young man. Chuck and Judith were back with their young son, Joseph, who played tambourine with me on one song. To top it all off, Briley and Kraig stopped by and Briley did a few songs with me. Thanks for taking the pics, Kraig!
This was our 7th Open Mic Sunday and we had some outstanding music from several of my musician friends. Bill was back with some awesome sets ranging from Irving Berlin to the Dead. Rick came up and knocked out some Neil Young tunes, not an easy feat, but he pulled it off in style. Artie is new to us and made some great music on his 12 string. Mike drove up from Orlando and delivered some great original tunes and oldies.
Remember, next week we start Open Mic Fridays, in Lake Mary, to give you a full weekend of great music!
See you there,
